Westminster to Kew Service

A direct service travelling from Westminster Pier to Kew Pier passing through the City of Westminster, Chelsea, Putney & Barnes. We are operating our service between Westminster & Kew regularly throughout September & October. During November & December we will be cruising between Westminster & Kew on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays (Until Saturday 23rd December 2023.

A cruise from Westminster Pier to Kew Pier takes approximately 1-hour, 30-minutes & passes through the City of Westminster & a number of London Boroughs including Chelsea, Wandsworth & Putney before arriving in the upper reaches. The next stage of the journey cruises through Hammersmith, Barnes & Chiswick, following the winding path of the river round islands & stately homes before arriving at Kew Pier. During the cruise we will pass beneath a number of London’s iconic bridges & pass numerous landmarks including Westminster Bridge, the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament), Lambeth Palace, Battersea Power Station, Chelsea Bridge & Albert Bridge.

The cruise takes place on a traditional river Thames passenger boat with indoor & outdoor seating, a fully licensed bar & toilet facilities. A river trip to Kew makes an excellent day out for tourists & locals alike & allows up to 4-hours & 30-minutes* ashore at Kew to explore the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew*, Kew Palace*, the London Museum of Water & Steam*, the National Archives or enjoy lunch at one of the many riverside pubs & restaurants. Alternatively passengers can enjoy a cruise from Kew to Westminster & remain onboard to return to Kew or disembark at Westminster Pier & make their own way back to Kew.

Kew Pier Location

Kew Pier is situated on the South Shore of the River, East of Kew Bridge. Walk past Kew Bridge Arches towards the river & turn right. The entrance to the pier is next to our green ticket office adjacent to Kew Bridge Playground. Please check in at our ticket office at least 10 minutes prior to departure.

Boats

Cockney Sparrow

The Cockney Sparrow was built in 1976 at Eel Pie Island. She is a two level boat with a deceptively large enclosed saloon and an open top deck. 

Connaught

M.V Connaught was built by Salter Brothers of Oxford in 1911 & has been cruising between Westminster, Kew, Richmond & Hampton Court for over 100 years. Connaught regularly operates on our services & is also available for private charters.

Princess Freda was built in 1926 by T.C. Letcher on the Isle of Wight, and has been restored to a particularly high standard.
